Naidra Matthias is of Guyanese decent; however, she was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up Naidra loved to play with her dolls' hair. She eventually took her hobby to friends, doing their hair and practicing with makeup. Naidra says, “I feel like this was something embedded in me, but I didn’t think of it as a career.”

However, when destiny took its course Naidra followed. Naidra went on to college to receive a degree in marketing. While attending college, she also attended cosmetology school part-time. After graduating from cosmetology school, she worked as an apprentice for 3 years under Tyrone Paige. Naidra moved on to become an educator in the industry as well.

She worked as an in-salon educator and as a cosmetology instructor for Paul Mitchell. Naidra kept her flair for makeup too. She was trained under the noble and talented Sam Fine. Naidra also took her skills to the stage as a platform artist and photo shoot stylist for Paul Mitchell and Sir Lawrence.

With 15 years experience in the hair industry, Naidra specializes in cutting and makeup artistry. Maintaining healthy hair is the philosophy she exercises with her clients. Her goal is to someday use her skills and expertise and incorporate them into building a salon of her own.
